Medical After Care Grant for TB/Leprosy Patients

Financial Assistance of Rs.300 per month is given to every Ex-Servicemen (for a maximum period of three years only) who are undergoing treatment as out patient suffering from TB/Leprosy on the basis of the certificate issued by the medical officer of the institution concerned. Annual income should be less than Rs30,000/-

Medical After care grant to Cancer Patients

A sum of Rs.300 per month is given to every Ex-Servicemen cancer patients for a period of one year provided his annual income is less than Rs.10, 000/-

Hospital facilities for Treatment

One bed each in all Taluk Hospitals reserved to Ex-servicemen and their dependant.

One bed each in all District Hospitals reserved to Ex-Servicemen and their dependants.

FACILITY FOR TREATMENT OF EX-SERVICEMEN FOR SERIOUS DISEASES IN CIVIL HOSTITALS

Kendriya Sainik Board has empanelled various hospital through out the country for the treatment of Ex-servicemen and their dependants for serious diseases of heart, renal, cancer, trup, stroke, Joint replacement etc as covered under the approved list of KSB.

Conditions under which treatment in a civil hospital is considered for Re-imbursement:

i)The authorized Medical Attendant (AMA) who is a Service medical Officer or a Staff surgeon or Civil Surgeon should consider it essential to admit the patient into local civil hospital.

ii)  No Service hospital exists at that station or necessary specialist facility for treatment is not available at the Service Hospital.

iii) The patient is not fit for transfer to the nearest Service Hospital

Conditions under which treatment in a private hospital/nursing home is considered:

i)  The AMA certifies that accommodation of appropriate class (as entitled to Service personnel) is  not available in local civil hospital or requisite specialist facility is not available in local civil  hospital.

ii)  In case of emergency, when the patient is not fit to be transferred to the  nearest Service /Civil Hospital.

iii)  Sanction from Area/Division Commander to the effect that it was necessary /to  admit the patient in the private hospital/nursing home has been obtained.

Procedure for re-imbursement

Following documents should accompany the application along with the bills:

“Certificate in Original from AMA.

“Contingent bill duly countersigned by the Officer Commanding of the nearest Service hospital where the treatment has been taken

“Sanction of the Area/Division Commander, when treatment is taken in a private hospital nursing home.

· Specialised nursing in routine case, toiletries, medicines advertised in mass, media tonics and dietary supplement, telephone and TV charges etc. are not reimbursed.

·Common mistakes, which need attention, are:

AMA is not consulted before patient is taken to the civil hospital/private hospital/nursing home.

* In places where Service hospital is not located, patient is taken directly to a private hospital/nursing home without referral of civil surgeon/assistant civil surgeon who is the AMA in the absence of Service medical Officer.

The sanction of the administrative authority(Area/Division Commander) of the location where treatment has been done should be obtained, and not the administrative authority of the place  of posting of the individual, unless both are same.
