Provision of Telephone connection to defence personnel Ex-servicemen and dependents of deceased soldiers under non-OYT-Special Category

(Copy of letter No.2-15/99 PHA, dated: March 29, 2000 from Government of India/ministry of communications/Department of telecom services, 415, Sanchar Bhawan, 20, Ashoka Road, New Delhi-110001)

In recognition of the services rendered to the nation, sit has been decided that the Defence Personnel/Ex-Servicemen shall be allowed to register their demand for one telephone connection under Non-OYT-Special category provided they do not have any other telephone connection working in their names)

The facility shall be admissible to the spouse/dependents in case of the death of the defence personnel/Ex-servicemen with the condition that no other telephone connection is working in their names. Concrete steps should be taken to check the authenticity of the applicants to avoid the misuse of the facility.

Efforts should be made to provide telephone connections to such registrants within a week after the issue of OB; subjects to technical feasibility

RENTAL FREE TELEPHONE FACILITY TO GALLANTRY AWARD WINNERS

(Copy of Army HQ Letter No. B/44621/AG CW-3 dtd 17 Nov. 2000)

1. As per Minister of Communication, Dept. of Telecom, letters No 2-47/92 PHA dt 19 Mar 93,13, Feb 95 and 15 Apr 97, 50% concession in normal rental charges and full concession in installation charges are available to the Gallantry Award winners, war widows and disabled soldiers. These categories are also given exemption from Registration charges, at par with freedom fighters.

2. Min. of Telecom, Telecom Services Deptt has now announced full concession in normal rental charges, only to the Gallantry Award winner of the three service vide their letter No 2-47/92 PHA dated 18 Sep 2000.
