Financial Assistance from Chief Ministers
Sainik Welfare Fund
The
fund is constituted for the purpose of providing Financial
Assistance to the dependents of Defence /Para Military and
GREF personnel who are killed/Missing in action and also to
the disabled Defence/ Para Military/ GREF personnel provided
the death/disability is attributable to military service.
Amount
of assistance varies from 1 to 5 lakhs subjected to conditions
stipulated in the Government Orders and decided by the committee.
2.
Monthly Financial Assistance to IInd World War Veterans
An
amount of Rs.400 per month is being given to the 2nd
World War Veterans served from 3rd September 1939
to 1st April 1946 whose annual income is below Rs.6, 000.
4. Ex-Gratia
Grant
An
immediate grant of Rs.15, 000 is given to the dependants of
Defence personnel killed/died in action and to those disabled
(before 29-6-1999), Rs.5000 to 15,000 depending upon the nature
of disability. The benefit is also extended to the Central
Para Military Personnel belonging to Kerala, and to the Personnel
of Central Para Military Forces killed/disabled while serving
in Kerala, who belongs to otherstates.
5. Cash
award, cash in lieu of land and annuity to the recipients
of Gallantry decorations.
The
Defense/Paramilitary (Assam Rifles, BSF, GREF and Territorial
Army etc) personnel belonging to Kerala are being given cash
grant, cash in lieu of land and annuity under this scheme

Grant of Cash Award to Recipient of Territorial Army Decorations/
Medals
Territorial
Army personnel who are recipients of TA decorations/ TA Medals
are given cash award as per the followings:-
Recipients
of TA decorations for Officers- Rs.3, 000/-
Recipients
of TA Medals for Other Ranks- Rs.2, 000/-

Fund
1.
Financial Assistance (SMBF/DBF)
An
amount ranging from Rs 1000/- to Rs 1250 and Rs.1500, 1750
& 2000, is granted to alleviate the financial distress
of poor Ex-servicemen and their dependents subject to eligibilities
specified .The annual income of the family should be less
than Rs 15,000.
2.
Marriage Grant
A
sum of Rs 5000/- is given to each Ex-servicemen for the marriage
of one of his daughters provided his annual income is less
than Rs.50,000/-
3.
Immediate Financial Assistance
In
special cases when considered necessary, Chief Minister/ Director,
Sainik Welfare, sanction immediate financial assistance at
a rate of Rs.3000/ 2000. In District level this assistance
is Rs.1000/500 by District Collector/ Zila Sainik Welfare
Officer.
4. Grant
for repair of dwelling huts to Ex-servicemen and widows of
Ex-servicemen.
An
one time grant of Rs.5000/- is given to eligible Ex-Servicemen/Widows
whose annual income is below Rs.30,000/- subject to other
eligibility conditions specified.
5.
Exgratia grant in the event of death of Ex-servicemen
A
lump sum grants of Rs.1000/- is given to the Widow of the
Ex-Servicemen pensioner in the event of death for the funeral,
provided the income of the family is below Rs.30, 000.
6.
Financial Assistance to Blind Ex-Servicemen
A
sum of Rs.500 per month is given to Ex-Servicemen and their
widows who are blind and whose annual income is less than
Rs.50,000/-
7.
Financial Assistance to Mentally Retarded Children
A
sum of Rs.500 per month is given to mentally retarded children
of Ex-Servicemen subjected to other eligibility conditions
specified.
8.
Pocket Expense
A
sum of Rs.500 per month is given to each Ex-servicemen inmate
of TB/ Leprosy sanatoriums in the State irrespective of their
income. Free mosquito nets are also supplied to them.
9.
Financial Assistance to Physically disabled Children
A sum of Rs.300 per month is given to physically disabled
son/daughters of Ex-servicemen/Soldier died while in action
whose disability is 40 % and above certified by Medical Board.
The annual income of parent/guardian should be below Rs.50,000/-
10. Onam Special Grants
A
sum of Rs.250 is given as special grant to celebrate Onam
festival to all Ex-Servicemen inmates of TB/Leprosy sanatoriums
of the State.

fund for the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Ex-servicemen
1. Grant
to Orphan
Orphan
Children of Ex-Servicemen are being paid a grant of Rs.500/-
per month per child till they attain the age of 18/21 years
for boys/girls (Income ceiling for eligibility of grant is
Rs.30,000 /-p.a). In the case of girls, either 21 years
or till they get married or employed.
2.
Maintenance Grant to Ex-Servicemen trainees at Queen Mary’s
Technical School (QMT) Pune.
Handicapped
Ex-Servicemen belonging to Kerala who are inmates of Queen
Mary’s Technical School, Pune are being paid a grant of Rs.600/-
per month or actual expenses recovered by QMT for their post
release stay.
3. Financial Assistance to poor Ex-Servicemen at Old Age
Homes
A
monthly Financial Assistance of Rs.200 will be given to poor
and aged Ex-Servicemen staying at Old age homes. Those who
have attained the age of 65 years and above will cover under
the scheme. Pensioners are not eligible for the benefit.
