Financial Assistance from Chief Ministers
Sainik Welfare Fund
The
fund is constituted for the purpose of providing Financial
Assistance to the dependents of Defence /Para Military and
GREF personnel who are killed/Missing in action and also to
the disabled Defence/ Para Military/ GREF personnel provided
the death/disability is attributable to military service.
Amount
of assistance varies from 1 to 5 lakhs subjected to conditions
stipulated in the Government Orders and decided by the committee.
2.
Monthly Financial Assistance to IInd World War Veterans
An
amount of Rs.400 per month is being given to the 2nd
World War Veterans served from 3rd September 1939
to 1st April 1946 whose annual income is below Rs.6, 000.
4. Ex-Gratia
Grant
An
immediate grant of Rs.15, 000 is given to the dependants of
Defence personnel killed/died in action and to those disabled
(before 29-6-1999), Rs.5000 to 15,000 depending upon the nature
of disability. The benefit is also extended to the Central
Para Military Personnel belonging to Kerala, and to the Personnel
of Central Para Military Forces killed/disabled while serving
in Kerala, who belongs to otherstates.
5. Cash
award, cash in lieu of land and annuity to the recipients
of Gallantry decorations.
The
Defense/Paramilitary (Assam Rifles, BSF, GREF and Territorial
Army etc) personnel belonging to Kerala are being given cash
grant, cash in lieu of land and annuity under this scheme

Medals
Territorial
Army personnel who are recipients of TA decorations/ TA Medals
are given cash award as per the followings:-

Financial Assistance from SMBF
Financial assistance varies from Rs. 2,000/-, Rs. 2,250/- and Rs. 2,500/- are being provided to Ex servicemen/dependents of ex-servicemen, whose annual income do not exceed Rs. 30,000/- from the State Military Benevolent Fund, based on the recommendation of the respective Zila Sainik Board. The amount of grant is being send to beneficiaries in the form of money order.
Financial Assistance from DMBF
Financial assistance varies from Rs. 1,500/- and Rs. 1,750/- are being provided to Ex-servicemen/dependents of ex-servicemen whose annual income do not exceed Rs. 30,000/-, from the District Benevolent Fund, based on the recommendation of the respective Zila Sainik Board. The amount of grant is being send to beneficiaries in the form of money order.
Immediate Financial Assistance
To alleviate the immediate nature of financial distress of ex-servicemen or their dependents, immediate financial assistance is granted from the SMBF at the rates of Rs. 4000/- and Rs. 3000/- by the Chief Minister and the Director of Sainik Welfare respectively. District Collector & Zila Zainik Welfare officer can sanction an amount of Rs. 1000/- and Rs. 500/- respectively from the DMBF.
Ex-Gratia Allowance
A lump sum grant of Rs. 1000/- is given to the family (Widow/Dependents) of an Ex-servicemen in the event of his death to alleviate their immediate financial crisis without stipulating any conditions.
Marriage Grant
A sum of Rs. 5000/- is given to Ex-servicemen/widows of Ex-servicemen for marriage of one of their daughters, provided their annual income is less than Rs. 50,000/-
Financial Assistance to Bind Ex-servicemen/Blind Widows/Wives of Ex-servicemen
A sum of Rs. 500/- per month is given to Ex-servicemen/widows/wives of Ex-servicemen who are blind in both eyes and are not receiving any pension or similar grant from Kendriya Sainik Boards or from any other source. The amount of grant is being sent by Money Order.
Financial Assistance to Mentally Retarded Children
A sum of Rs. 500/- per month is given to the mentally retarded children of Ex-servicemen, provided their annual income is less than Rs. 50,000/-
Pocket Expense
A sum of Rs. 500/- per month is given to each Ex-servicemen inmate of TB/Leprosy sanatoriums in the State irrespective of their income. Free mosquito nets are also supplied to them.
Festival Allowance A sum of Rs. 500/- is given as festival allowance on the occasion of Onam to all Ex-servicemen inmates of TB/Leprosy sanatoriums of the State.
Medical after care grant for TB/Leprosy patients
Assistance of Rs. 500/- per month is given to Ex-servicemen/Widows of Ex-servicemen (for a maximum period of three years only after the cessation of payment from Red Cross Society) who is undergoing treatment as outpatient on account of TB/Leprosy and whose annual income does not exceed Rs.60,000/-
A sum of Rs. 300/- per month is given to physically disabled unmarried /unemployed sons/daughters of Ex-servicemen. Annual income should be below Rs. 50,000/-
Medical After Care Grant to Cancer Patients
A sum of Rs. 1,000/- per month shall be sanctioned to every Ex-servicemen Cancer patients for period of one year at a time on recommendation from a Government cancer institute to confirm that such Ex-servicemen had undergone treatment for cancer. The schemes is extended to widows/wives of Ex-servicemen also.
Grant for repair of Dwelling Huts
A onetime grant of Rs. 5000/- is paid to Ex-Servicemen and widows of Ex-servicemen whose annual income does not exceed Rs. 30,000/-
Financial Assistance to Paraplegic Centre Rehabilitation Centre, Pune
A scheme has been launched for providing monthly financial assistance of Rs. 500/- per month to the inmates of Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Pune who belongs to the State of Kerala and to provide railway ticket charges for 2nd class sleeper once a year to a close relative of the inmates who visit the inmate.
Cash Award to SSLC, CBSE and ICSE Top Scorers
A cash award of Rs. 1000/- is given to the top mark scorer of SSLC, CBSE and ICSE at district level among the wards of Ex-servicemen.
Financial Assistance to children of Ex-servicemen who are undergoing coaching classes to appear for SET, NET, JRF, ICWA, CA, Civil Services Examinations etc.
In order to help the children of Ex-servicemen, who are undergoing coaching classes for SET, NET, JRF, ICWA, CA, Civil Services Examinations etc, one time grant Rs. 3,000/- (Rupees three thousand only) will be paid. Children of Ex-servicemen, who are undergoing, the above coaching and whose annual income is below Rs. 75,000/- is eligible for the grant. The amount will be paid only after producing required document as proof of coaching and appearance of Examination.
Free Supply of Sewing Machine
One sewing machine each is provided at free of cost to Ex-servicemen who are tailors by trade, and widow who now tailoring to promote self employment. Annual income should be less than Rs. 30,000/-
Embroidery machine to Ex-servicemen, widows/wives of unemployed ex-servicemen
The State Military Benevolent Fund will provide one embroidery machine as a measure of self employment to those unemployed Ex-servicemen, widows of Jawans killed in action/died in harness and widows/wives of Ex-servicemen who fulfill the following conditions:-
i. Ex-servicemen, widows/wives of Ex-servicemen should know embroidery works.
ii. Ex-servicemen, widows/wives of Ex-servicemen should not be in receipt of any kind of aid from any other source for self employment purpose.
iii. Annual income shall not exceed Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only).
Training programmes for self employment ventures of Ex-servicemen
Training is imparted to Ex-servicemen who wish to start self employment ventures as a measure towards rehabilitation. A maximum of Rs. 3000/- each will be paid as course fee to the institution where the unemployed Ex-serviceman is undergoing training.
Training Programme for Competitive Exams and Attending Interview Boards
Ex-servicemen and their dependents who are appearing for competitive exams and attending interviews are given coaching in every district.
Training in Computer Awareness
State wide computer course are being provided to Ex-servicemen in order to make them aware of basic knowledge in computer.

fund for the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Ex-servicemen
1. Grant
to Orphan
Orphan Children of Ex-Servicemen are being paid a grant of Rs.1000/-
per month per child till they attain the age of 25 years
(Income ceiling for eligibility of grant is
Rs.50,000 /-p.a) married or employed.
2. Financial Assistance to poor Ex-Servicemen at Old Age
Homes
A
monthly Financial Assistance of Rs.600 will be given to poor
and aged Ex-Servicemen/widows staying at Old age homes. Those who
have attained the age of 65 years and above will cover under
the scheme. Pensioners are not eligible for the benefit.
